FE pressure switch alarm with optional alarm buzzer — System pressure warning

Bosch · AWE Heat Pumps

What does FE mean?

The Heat Pump has detected a problem with the system's pressure, indicated by an 'FE' alarm from the pressure switch. If an optional alarm buzzer is installed, it will also sound. This often points to the system pressure being outside the normal operating range.

Common Causes

  • Heating system water pressure is too low or too high.
  • Leakage in the heating system.
  • Blocked or faulty pressure switch.
  • Loose or incorrect wiring to the pressure switch.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Locate the pressure gauge on your heating system (usually near the Heat Pump or expansion tank) and check the current system pressure. Refer to your Heat Pump's main operating instructions for the correct pressure range.

  2. 2

If the pressure is too low, check for any visible water leaks around pipes, valves, or the Heat Pump unit. If you find leaks, contact a qualified technician.

  3. 3

If the pressure is incorrect (either too low or too high) and you are confident in doing so, follow the instructions in your main user manual for adjusting the system pressure. Otherwise, contact a professional.

  4. 4

If the issue persists or you are unsure, contact a qualified Bosch service technician for diagnosis and repair, as there may be a faulty pressure switch or other internal issue.
