Code 15-94 Line Voltage High — Incoming voltage is too high

Carrier · Air Conditioners & Heat Pumps

What does 15-94 mean?

The system has detected that the incoming line voltage has risen above 285V AC RMS at any time, or above 280V AC RMS for more than 5 seconds. The unit will not operate or will shut down to protect electronic components. This fault clears when voltage drops below these thresholds.

Common Causes

  • Incoming line voltage is genuinely high.
  • PCM board or transformer replaced without line voltage recalibration (causing nuisance errors).

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Check for the fault clearing automatically when line voltage drops below thresholds.

  2. 2

If the voltage reading is below 285 VAC RMS, perform voltage calibration steps using the service app (technician step).

  3. 3

If line voltage is consistently above 280VAC RMS, contact your local power utility.
