What does 16 mean?

Communication has been lost between system components. This can be caused by loose or shorted wiring, a user interface that isn't powered, a data bus locked up by power issues, or a damaged outdoor unit (ODU) control board.

Common Causes

  • Loose wire or shorted leads
  • User Interface isn’t powered
  • Data Bus locked up by power loss, brownout or glitch
  • Damaged ODU control

    Verify all communications wiring (ABCD) for loose connections, stripped wires, or shorts to ground or between wires.

  2. 2

    Check that the User Interface is receiving power from the indoor product.

  3. 3

    Cycle the power to the entire system to attempt to reset the data bus.

  4. 4

    If the issue persists after these checks, the ODU control might be damaged and require replacement.
