Does not empty/spin

Machine does not empty and/or does not spin — Water remaining or spin cycle failure

Electrolux · Washing Machines

What does Does not empty/spin mean?

The washing machine fails to drain water at the end of a cycle or during rinse hold, or the spin cycle does not engage. This can leave laundry wet or with standing water in the drum.

Common Causes

  • The drain hose is squashed or kinked.
  • The drain pump is clogged.
  • The "Rinse Hold" option has been selected.
  • Laundry is not evenly distributed in the drum.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Check the drain hose connection for any kinks or obstructions and straighten them.

  2. 2

Clean the drain filter (refer to the Care and Cleaning section of your manual for instructions).

  3. 3

If "Rinse Hold" is active, press the Start/Pause touchpad to drain the water or select a separate spin programme.

  4. 4

Pause the machine and manually redistribute the laundry inside the drum to ensure even balance.
