Arc detected

Arc detected — Grid power feed interrupted due to fault

Fronius · Primo GEN24 Inverters

What does Arc detected mean?

The inverter has detected an electric arc, indicating a fault on the DC side. This safety measure interrupts the grid power feed for at least 5 minutes to prevent overheating and fire risk. If multiple arcs are detected within 24 hours, the grid power feed can be permanently interrupted until manually reconnected.

Common Causes

  • Faulty or incorrect DC installation.
  • Poor plug connections or contact errors on the DC side.
  • Faulty insulation in the PV system.
  • Active PV module electronics (e.g., power optimizers) impairing the Arc Fault Circuit Interrupter (AFCI) function.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Carefully check all DC plug connections to ensure they are correct, secure, and free from damage.

  2. 2

Repair any faulty insulation correctly and in line with installation instructions.

  3. 3

Ensure all DC connection work was performed according to the inverter's installation guidelines.

  4. 4

If the issue persists or multiple arcs are detected, a manual reconnection may be required after resolving the underlying cause.

  5. 5

Consider if any active PV module electronics are affecting the AFCI operation.
