Error 45 — Low pressure detected in system

GE Appliances · Air Conditioning

What does 45 mean?

This error indicates that the system has detected low pressure. It triggers when the minimum temperature of indoor or outdoor pipes is too low during cooling mode, or specific outdoor temperatures are too low during heating mode.

Common Causes

  • Low pressure sensor detection value is incorrect
  • Low refrigerant charge
  • System air leakage
  • Blocked low pressure or liquid line piping
  • Outdoor heat exchanger electronic expansion valve failure during heating
  • Operation environment is beyond the allowed range

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Check if the pressure switch wiring connection is okay.

  2. 2

Use a multimeter to check the high pressure switch. See if it is short-circuited.

  3. 3

Check if the EEV coil wiring is correct and firmly in place.

  4. 4

Open the service valve and check if the piping system is clogged or if the connection pipe is bent.

  5. 5

If the pressure switch is bad, replace it. If the sensor is bad, replace it.
