SALT REFILL indicator light — Salt reservoir needs refilling

Hotpoint · Dishwashers

What does SALT REFILL light mean?

The SALT REFILL indicator light illuminates on the control panel when the salt reservoir is low and requires refilling. Maintaining proper salt levels prevents limescale accumulation on dishes and internal components.

Common Causes

  • The Dishwasher's salt reservoir is empty or low.
  • Water hardness setting is incorrect for your local water supply.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Remove the lower rack and unscrew the salt reservoir cap anticlockwise.

  2. 2

  3. 3

Fill the salt reservoir completely with Dishwasher-specific salt (approximately 1 kg) using a funnel.

  4. 4

Wipe away any salt residue from the opening and screw the cap on tightly.

  5. 5

Check or adjust the water hardness setting as described in the 'Setting the Water Hardness' section of your manual.
