E12 - Address setting conflict or auto address failure

MHI · R410A Systems

What does E12 mean?

This error occurs when one or more units (indoor or outdoor) have address settings at factory defaults (48 or 49) or when auto-addressing fails on a non-KX2 system.

Common Causes

  • Indoor or outdoor units left at factory default addresses (48 or 49).
  • Attempting auto-addressing on a system that does not support it (only KX2 systems).
  • Conflict in address settings across units.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Turn off the main power to all units in the system at the circuit breaker.

  2. 2

Consult the installation manual to manually set unique addresses for each indoor and outdoor unit, ensuring no unit is left at the factory default (48 or 49).

  3. 3

If using auto-addressing, verify that your system is a KX2 model, as it's the only one supported.

  4. 4

Restore power and re-attempt addressing if necessary. If issues persist, contact a professional.
