Check dosage

Display shows 'Check dosage' — Excessive foam has built up during washing

Miele · W1 Washing Machines

What does Check dosage mean?

This message appears when the washing machine detects too much foam in the drum during a wash cycle. Excessive foam can negatively affect washing performance and rinsing.

Common Causes

  • The amount of detergent used was too high for the load size or water hardness.
  • With TwinDos, the set dosage amount for UltraPhase 1 or 2 is too high.
  • Incorrect detergent type was used, leading to excessive sudsing.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

If using TwinDos, check the dosage amount currently set in the machine's settings.

  2. 2

Reduce the detergent dosage amount in 10% increments for TwinDos, or manually use less detergent for the next wash.

  3. 3

Follow the detergent manufacturer's instructions on the packaging for recommended dosage based on load size and soil level.

  4. 4

Consider running an extra rinse cycle to remove residual foam.
