Serial signal error

Serial signal error indicated — Communication issue or interference

Mitsubishi Electric · Air Conditioning

What does Serial signal error mean?

After restarting the power or using the emergency operation switch, the system indicates a serial signal error, usually after about 6 minutes. This suggests a problem with communication between the indoor and outdoor units, or interference from external devices.

Common Causes

  • Interference from inverter-controlled lighting equipment
  • Miswiring of the indoor/outdoor connecting wire
  • Poor contact in the connecting wire terminals
  • Wire disconnection in the indoor/outdoor connecting wire

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Turn OFF any inverter-controlled lighting equipment located near your air conditioner units.

  2. 2

Turn OFF the main power supply to your air conditioner, wait a minute, then turn it back ON.

  3. 3

Press the emergency operation switch on the indoor unit (if your model has one).

  4. 4

Visually inspect the indoor/outdoor connecting wire for any obvious signs of damage, miswiring, or loose connections.

  5. 5

If the error persists, consider reinstalling the unit or moving interfering lights further away, or attaching a filter to the remote control receiving section of the indoor unit if available.
