The printer displays a 'Cover open' status or error, preventing it from operating. This usually means one of the printer's access covers is not fully shut or a sensor is malfunctioning.

• A printer cover (e.g., side cover) is not fully closed
• The lever that activates the cover sensor is not pressed down
• Micro switch contact issue for the cover sensor
• CPU or related circuit problem affecting the sensor
