LED Blinking (1s ON, 2s OFF) - Compressor protection activated

Samsung · Refrigerators

What does LED Blinking 1s On 2s Off mean?

The Refrigerator's compressor protection system has detected an internal issue and has stopped operation. This is indicated by an LED blinking with a specific 1-second ON, 2-seconds OFF pattern. The compressor will stand by for 5 minutes after detection before attempting to restart.

Common Causes

  • Short circuit in compressor wiring (e.g., between phases)
  • Issue with internal power modules (IPM pins)
  • Unstable input voltage (too high or too low, under AC 53V or over AC 155V)
  • Compressor motor lock or over-speed condition
