Laundry is not dried correctly or is still too damp

Laundry is not dried correctly or is still too damp — Laundry feels damp after drying

Siemens · iQ800 Tumble Dryer

What does Laundry is not dried correctly or is still too damp mean?

After a drying programme completes, the laundry remains damp or does not achieve the desired level of dryness. Warm laundry may feel damper than it actually is, so allow it to cool before re-evaluating.

Common Causes

  • Warm laundry feels damper than it actually is; needs to cool down.
  • The dryness level setting is too low.
  • A programme with a shorter drying time was selected.
  • Maximum load for the programme was exceeded.
  • Moisture sensor in the drum is dirty.
  • Drying was interrupted by a power cut, full condensate container, or maximum drying time exceeded.
  • Fluff filter is dirty.
  • Air inlet on the dryer is blocked.
  • Ambient temperature is outside the optimum range (15 °C and 30 °C).
  • Insufficient air circulation in the room.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Spread out the laundry and allow it to cool down to dissipate heat.

  2. 2

Adjust the dryness level setting to a higher level, which will extend drying time without increasing temperature.

  3. 3

Select a programme with a longer drying time or increase the drying level.

  4. 4

Clean the moisture sensor inside the drum (Page 35) to remove limescale or detergent residues.

  5. 5

Ensure the fluff filter is clean (Page 32) and the air inlet on the dryer is unobstructed. Ventilate the room if necessary.

  6. 6

If the condensate container was full, empty it and restart the programme. If there was a power cut, restart the programme or spread out laundry.
