Fac-Bfr / Fac-Srr — Grid frequency outside permissible range

SMA · Sunny Boy Inverters

What does Fac-Bfr / Fac-Srr mean?

The grid frequency is no longer within the allowed range. The Sunny Boy inverter assumes the public grid is down and disconnects to prevent 'islanding' (where the inverter continues to power a local grid section independently).

Common Causes

  • Grid frequency outside permissible range (public grid down).
  • Local grid conditions.
  • Actual fault in the inverter.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Contact your installer to deal with the fault and investigate grid conditions.

  2. 2

If the grid frequency appears to be within the tolerance range but these faults persist, contact SMA.

  3. 3

Check with your local utility operator if there are known grid issues or outages in your area.
