Event 3601 — High discharge current, ground fault suspected

SMA · SUNNY BOY Solar Inverters

What does 3601 mean?

The inverter has detected that the leakage current of the inverter and the PV array is too high, often indicating a ground fault, a residual current, or a general malfunction. The inverter will interrupt feed-in operation immediately as a safety measure.

Common Causes

  • Ground fault in the PV system or inverter.
  • Excessive residual current.
  • Malfunction within the inverter or PV array.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Check the entire PV system for ground faults, inspecting modules, wiring, and connections thoroughly.

  2. 2

Wait to see if the fault clears; the inverter automatically reconnects once the fault condition is eliminated.

  3. 3

If the problem persists or recurs frequently, contact a qualified electrician or your PV system installer for a detailed inspection.

  4. 4

Do not attempt to operate the inverter if you suspect a ground fault until it has been professionally resolved.
