ESS Relay test Pending — Feed-in disabled until test completes

SolarEdge · ESS Systems

What does ESS Relay test Pending mean?

The system is in the process of performing a required relay test before it can begin feeding power from the battery or solar to loads or the grid. During this test, the system needs to run in inverter mode.

Common Causes

  • The system has just been connected or restarted, and the relay test is initiated.
  • Battery voltage is too low to complete the relay test.
  • The ESS Assistant is installed and requires this initial test.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Ensure the battery has sufficient charge (e.g., above 14/28/56 volts or 20% SOC).

  2. 2

Allow the system time to complete the test, which typically takes about 1 minute.

  3. 3

Check the 'ESS Relay test' status in the Multi/Quattro's Advanced submenu on the device list. It should change from 'Pending' to 'Completed'.

  4. 4

If the test repeatedly fails, check battery health and connections.
