F.22 - Safety switch-off: Low water pressure

Vaillant · ecoTEC plus Boilers

What does F.22 mean?

The boiler has performed a safety shutdown due to low water pressure in the heating system. This means there is not enough water for safe operation.

Common Causes

  • No or insufficient water in the boiler or heating system.
  • The water pressure sensor is defective.
  • The cable to the pump or water pressure sensor is loose, not connected, or defective.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Press the reset button on the boiler display up to three times to try and clear the fault.

  2. 2

Check the system pressure gauge on your boiler. If it's too low, re-pressurize your heating system according to your boiler's user manual.

  3. 3

Ensure the mains water supply to the boiler is fully open.

  4. 4

If the pressure appears correct but the fault persists, contact customer service. The water pressure sensor or pump connection may be defective.
