F.28 - Failure during start-up: Ignition unsuccessful

What does F.28 mean?

The boiler failed to ignite during the start-up sequence. This can be caused by numerous issues related to the gas supply, ignition system, or electrical connections.

Common Causes

  • Gas meter or gas pressure monitor fault, air in gas, or low gas flow pressure.
  • Condensate duct blocked or incorrect gas restrictor.
  • Faulty gas valve or its connections to the PCB.
  • Defective ignition system (transformer, cable, plug, electrode) or earthing, or electronics fault.

    Press the reset button on the boiler display up to three times to try and clear the fault.

    Ensure the main gas supply valve to the boiler is fully open.

  3. 3

    Check for any obvious blockages in the condensate duct and clear if necessary.

    Contact customer service. This fault has many potential causes related to gas supply, ignition, and electrical connections that require expert diagnosis.
