F.56 - Combustion component fault

Vaillant · ecoTEC plus Boilers

What does F.56 mean?

A component critical to the combustion regulation process is faulty. This often relates to electrical connections to the gas valve or gas type settings.

Common Causes

  • Poor electrical contact at the gas valve (plug not inserted correctly, loose, or defective).
  • Natural gas coding resistance used when operating with liquid gas (or vice-versa).
  • The gas valve itself is defective (if the fault recurs after clearing).

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Press the reset button on the boiler display up to three times to try and clear the fault.

  2. 2

Check the electrical plug connection to the gas valve. Ensure it is fully and correctly inserted and free from damage.

  3. 3

Verify that the correct gas coding resistance (a small component) is used for your specific gas type (natural gas or liquid gas). This usually requires a technician.

  4. 4

If the fault recurs after these checks, contact customer service as the gas valve may be defective.
