S.54

S.54 - Waiting period: Low water pressure in the circuit

Vaillant · ecoTEC plus Boilers

What does S.54 mean?

This status indicates that the boiler is in a waiting period because the water pressure in the heating circuit is too low. This is often detected by a large temperature difference between the flow and return sensors.

Common Causes

  • Low water pressure in the heating circuit.
  • Large temperature spread between flow and return sensors.
  • Possible air in the system or insufficient water.
  • System pressure too low

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Check the system pressure gauge on your boiler. It should typically be between 1.0 and 1.5 bar (or as specified in your manual).

  2. 2

If the pressure is low, top up the system using the filling loop until the pressure is within the recommended range.

  3. 3

If the issue persists after topping up the water pressure, try pressing and holding the reset button for more than three seconds. If the fault reappears, contact customer service.

  4. 4

If you are unsure how to top up the system, consult a qualified heating engineer.
