F7 and flashing reset button/fault LED — Flame detected when appliance is off

What does F7 mean?

The F7 code is displayed, and both the reset button and the fault indicator LED are flashing. This fault means that the boiler detects a flame even though the appliance has switched off, which is a safety concern.

Common Causes

  • Dirty or defective electrode(s).
  • Problem with the flue (flue gases in the combustion air).
  • Damaged PCB (Printed Circuit Board).

    Switch OFF the appliance immediately.

    Contact a qualified heating engineer to inspect and clean or replace the electrode assembly, which detects the flame.

    The engineer should also check the flue for proper operation and ensure no flue gases are present in the combustion air.

    If the problem persists, the PCB control board may be damaged and will require replacement by a qualified technician.
