What does Outdoor thermistor fault mean?

The outdoor unit is not operating due to a detected short or open circuit in one of the outdoor temperature thermistors. This includes thermistors for discharge temperature, fin temperature, defrost, P.C. board temperature, outdoor heat exchanger, or ambient temperature.

Common Causes

  • Discharge temperature thermistor shorted or opened
  • Fin temperature thermistor shorted or opened
  • Defrost thermistor shorted or opened
  • P.C. board temperature thermistor shorted or opened
  • Outdoor heat exchanger temperature thermistor shorted or opened
  • Ambient temperature thermistor shorted or opened

    Turn off the power to the outdoor unit at the circuit breaker for at least 30 seconds.

    Restore power and try to operate the unit again.
