Insufficient Cooling/Heating

Room cannot be cooled or heated sufficiently - Settings, cleanliness, or environment factors

Mitsubishi Electric · MSZ-AP Air Conditioners

What does Insufficient Cooling/Heating mean?

The air conditioner is running, but the room is not reaching or maintaining the desired temperature effectively.

Common Causes

  • The temperature setting is not appropriate.
  • The fan speed setting is too low.
  • Air filters are dirty.
  • The fan or heat exchanger of the indoor unit is dirty.
  • Obstacles are blocking the air inlet or outlet of the indoor or outdoor unit.
  • Windows or doors are open, allowing conditioned air to escape.
  • Room size, ambient temperature, or other heat/cooling sources are too demanding for the unit.
  • NIGHT MODE is set, which can reduce cooling/heating capacity.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Check and adjust the temperature setting to a more appropriate level for your comfort.

  2. 2

Increase the fan speed to 'High' or 'Super High' for better air circulation and faster temperature adjustment.

  3. 3

Clean the air filters of the indoor unit according to the manual (page 12) and inspect the fan/heat exchanger for cleanliness.

  4. 4

Ensure there are no obstacles blocking the air inlets or outlets of both the indoor and outdoor units.

  5. 5

Close all windows and doors to prevent conditioned air from escaping and unconditioned air from entering.

  6. 6

Deactivate NIGHT MODE if it is active, as it can reduce the unit's cooling/heating capacity.
