E12 / Indoor Red LED 1 flash

Error E12 / Indoor Red LED Flashes Once — Addressing error (factory settings or auto address)

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries · Air Conditioners

What does E12 / Indoor Red LED 1 flash mean?

Error E12, indicated by a single flash of the indoor unit's red LED, signals an addressing issue. This can happen if units retain factory addresses (48 or 49), if a unit isn't set to 49 during auto-addressing, or if auto-addressing isn't compatible with the system type (only single KX2 systems).

Common Causes

  • One or more units (indoor or outdoor) are still addressed at 48 or 49 (factory setting)
  • One or more units (indoor or outdoor) is not set at 49 while trying to auto address
  • Auto address is not possible on the system (only single KX2 system compatible)

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Turn off the main power to the system.

  2. 2

Manually check and adjust the addresses of all indoor and outdoor units, ensuring no unit is left at the factory default of 48 or 49 unless specifically required.

  3. 3

If using auto-addressing, ensure all units are initially set to address 49 as per the manual.

  4. 4

Verify your system type; if it's not a single KX2 system, auto-addressing is not an option and manual addressing is required.

  5. 5

    Restore power after making changes.
