E60 - Compressor rotor lock error

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries · Air Conditioners

What does E60 mean?

The remote control displays E60 (while the indoor unit's green LED stays off and red LED keeps flashing). This indicates a compressor rotor lock error, meaning the compressor's rotor is unable to rotate. The system attempts to detect rotor position, and if it fails again, the compressor stops.

Common Causes

  • Defective outdoor fan motor
  • Defective outdoor unit PCB
  • Anomalous power source voltage
  • Improper refrigerant amount or circuit
  • Defective compressor (motor, bearing)

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Turn off the main power to the air conditioner for at least 30 minutes, then restore power and try restarting the unit.

  2. 2

Check your home's main electrical panel for tripped breakers and reset any if found.

  3. 3

Listen for any unusual noises (e.g., grinding or buzzing) from the outdoor unit when trying to start, which could indicate a compressor issue.

  4. 4

If the error persists, contact a qualified technician to inspect the compressor, outdoor fan motor, refrigerant levels, and outdoor unit PCB.
