Error E508 and Red lights up (360 Cassette) — Smart Install mode not completed

Samsung · Air Conditioning

What does E508 mean?

This error appears when the Smart Install mode, a self-diagnostic function for initial setup, has not been successfully carried out after the air conditioner's first installation. When this error is displayed, the remote control and main unit buttons will not work, and the product will not operate properly. The indoor unit will show red lights.

Common Causes

  • Smart Install mode was not entered or completed after initial power-up.
  • Installation issues such as incorrect power/communication wiring, service valve not open, or incorrect refrigerant charge.
  • Smart Install mode was interrupted prematurely.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Before starting, check all installation statuses: ensure power and communication wires are correctly connected, service valves are open, and the correct amount of refrigerant is charged.

  2. 2

Enter Smart Install mode: on the outdoor unit, press the K1 and K4 switches simultaneously for 5 seconds. Alternatively, on the remote control, press the [Power] + [Set] + [Mode] buttons simultaneously for 4 seconds.

  3. 3

Monitor the progress status displayed as "00~99" (%). This process may take about 10 minutes, with the indoor unit blinking in sequence (Ice blue → Yellow green → Blue → Red → Ice blue).

  4. 4

If an error occurs during Smart Install, resolve that specific error first, then re-run the Smart Install mode from the beginning.

  5. 5

Ensure the Smart Install mode completes successfully. If it fails even after resolving other issues, attempt to complete it again.
