E500 (Red Blink, Green Blink, Yellow OFF) — IPM is overheated

What does E500 mean?

The outdoor unit's PCB LED displays E500 when the Inverter Power Module (IPM) within the outdoor unit detects that it is overheating. This is a critical safety measure to protect the module.

Common Causes

  • Insufficient cooling for the IPM
  • Dirty heatsink or fan malfunction
  • High ambient temperature around the outdoor unit
  • Issue with the Outdoor Inverter PBA

    Ensure the outdoor unit's fans are operating freely and there are no obstructions to airflow.

    Clean any accumulated dust or debris from the outdoor unit's heatsinks and vents.

    Turn off the main power to the outdoor unit at the circuit breaker for 30 minutes to allow the IPM to cool down.

    Restore power and try operating the unit. If the error persists, contact a qualified technician.
