Short circuit bus

Gateway not functioning — Both jack and screw terminal connected simultaneously

Junkers · EMS Gateway

What does Short circuit bus mean?

The Gateway may not operate correctly, or it could experience a short circuit on the EMS bus if both the 3.5mm jack connector and the screw terminal are used at the same time to connect the EMS wires. These two connectors are internally hardwired.

Common Causes

  • Simultaneous connection of EMS bus wires to both the jack and screw terminal inputs on the Gateway.
  • Accidental dual connection during the installation process.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Immediately disconnect one of the EMS bus connections (either the jack or the screw terminal).

  2. 2

Ensure only one method of connection to the EMS bus is used at any time.

  3. 3

Power cycle the Gateway by unplugging it for 30 seconds and then plugging it back in.

  4. 4

Check the Gateway LED status for normal operation (solid blue light).
