Liebherr Built-in Refrigerator-Freezers
14 fault codes documented
Acoustic warning sounds — Door left open too long
The appliance sounds an acoustic warning if the Refrigerator or freezer door remains open for longer than 180 seconds (3 minutes). This is a reminder to close the door to maintain temperature.
Alarm symbol flashing with acoustic warning — Freezer temperature too high
If the freezer temperature is not cold enough, an audible warning sounds and the Alarm symbol Fig. 3 (15) flashes. The freezer temperature display may also flash, or show flashing dashes if the temperature is above 32 °F (0 °C). This indicates a risk of food spoilage.
Appliance does not work — No power or switched off
The Refrigerator-freezer is not operating. This could be due to the appliance not being switched on, a power plug issue, or a problem with the household fuse or power supply.
Appliance will not switch off — Child Safety function active
The appliance cannot be powered off using the standard On/Off button if the Child Safety function (also known as Child-proof lock) is currently engaged. This safety feature prevents accidental or unauthorized shutdown.
DEMO displayed — Appliance in demonstration mode
The word 'DEMO' appears on the appliance's display. This indicates that the appliance is currently running in demonstration mode, which is not suitable for normal household use.
Temperature display shows F0 to F9 — Internal fault
The temperature display shows a fault code ranging from F0 to F9. This indicates a general internal fault with the appliance that requires professional attention.
Temperature display shows FE — Internal fault
The temperature display shows the fault code FE. This indicates a general internal fault with the appliance that requires professional attention.
Flashing power failure symbol — Freezer temperature rose during power outage
The temperature display shows a flashing power failure symbol along with the warmest temperature reached during a recent power outage or interruption. This indicates that the freezer temperature rose to an unsafe level.
Appliance iced up or condensation building — Door seal issue
Ice is building up inside the appliance or condensation is forming. This often indicates that the door seal is not functioning correctly, allowing warm, moist air to enter.
Interior light does not turn on — No power or timeout
The interior light of the appliance does not illuminate when the door is opened. This could be due to the appliance being switched off or the light automatically switching off after the door has been open for an extended period.
No power outage message after power returns in SabbathMode — Food safety check needed
When SabbathMode is active, the appliance does not save or display a message about a power outage. If a power cut occurs and power is restored, the appliance quietly resumes SabbathMode without indicating the interruption, making it impossible to tell if food was exposed to unsafe temperatures.
LED at lower rear flashes every 5 seconds — Internal fault detected
An LED located at the lower rear of the appliance, near the compressor, flashes regularly approximately every 5 seconds. This indicates an internal fault within the appliance.
Reduced cooling or high energy consumption — Ventilation obstructed
If the appliance's air circulation is restricted, its ability to cool efficiently can be compromised, leading to higher energy use and potentially less effective cooling. This is often caused by blocked air vents or insufficient space around the unit.
Vibration noise — Appliance not stable
The appliance is generating loud vibration noises. This often occurs when the appliance is not standing firmly on the floor, causing nearby objects or units to vibrate.
