Samsung · Washing Machines

What does dC mean?

This code indicates that the washer door is open during operation. It can also appear if the Child Lock function is active and the lid is opened, potentially with an alarm sound. If the water level is above safe levels, the washer may start to drain water automatically.

Common Causes

  • Washer door not properly closed
  • Laundry caught in the door opening
  • Lid opened while Child Lock function is active
  • Water level in tub is above safe levels with Child Lock on and lid open

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Ensure the door is properly closed and latched until you hear a click or it feels secure.

  2. 2

Check that no laundry items or obstructions are caught in the door opening.

  3. 3

If Child Lock is active, deactivate it by pressing and holding Temp. and Water Level simultaneously for at least 3 seconds to cancel the 'dC' mode.
